Acacia
Grove R.V. Park & Cabins is on 8 acres overlooking the Thompson
River, where it joins the Nicola River in Spences Bridge, British
Columbia. This valley is in a mountain desert unlike any other
geographical region in Canada. There are 8 cabins (built around
1949) and 32 grassed R.V. sites nestled amongst majestic acacia
trees that were planted by the gold rush settlers who brought them
from California to supply wood for wagon wheels.
The R.V. Park & Cabins are open
all year. In the summer, the park is a perfect stop for many RVers
and campers on the road to Alaska or the Rocky Mountains. The cabins
are very busy in the fall due to the steelhead fishing season. Landing
a world-famous Thompson River Steelhead is an “itch that must
be scratched” for fly fisherman and anglers from around the
world. During the winter months, affordable long-term Cabin rentals
and R.V. storage is available. The R.V. Park’s service building
is fully operational all winter and although the water supply to
the R.V. sites must be shut off, the Park remains open to all campers.
Spences Bridge is on Highway #1
at the junction with Highway #8, approximately halfway between Lytton
and Cache Creek in British Columbia, Canada. It can be reached in
less than 6 hours drive from points south: Seattle, Washington,
U.S.A., north: Prince George, B.C. and east: Revelstoke, B.C.
Roy
& Sarah bought the campsite in September 07,having
travelled many parts of the world and have travelled by motorhome
throughout North America in the last 20 years. They began to dream
about the possibility of operating a park of their own. Once they
found Spences Bridge and this lush green oasis in the desert, they
knew the dream would become a reality. They have already found great
satisfaction from extending warm, friendly, old-fashioned hospitality
to people from as far away as Japan , U.K, U.S.A and as nearby as
Merritt, B.C.
